How the free listen catalog works
A catalog is not a vibe. It is a pile of files, names, identifiers, and decisions about what the public is allowed to touch. This is how mine is wired, in language a listener can use.
Streams are not masters
When you press play on the public player, you are usually hearing an encoded stream — a version sized for phones and mid-range connections. I keep higher-resolution masters locally. That is not a sneer at listeners. It is how I prevent a “free MP3 folder” from becoming the entire commercial life of a recording without my consent.
If you need a higher-quality file for a legitimate personal archive, you can still use downloads I actually offer. What I do not offer is a warehouse of unwatermarked masters for strangers to flip into paid sample packs.
Players
The primary player is on asiancoastline.com. It supports search and shuffle so you do not have to know a title in advance. A second listen page on GitHub Pages exists as redundancy. If one door is slow, try the other. Both are meant for humans, not for scrapers that rename files and call it a mixtape.
ISRCs and why they look like serial numbers
An ISRC is a standard recording identifier. It is boring on purpose. Boring identifiers are how you prove that “300 Broken Pieces” on Tuesday is the same recording as “300 Broken Pieces” on a ledger next year. I attach ISRCs to a large share of the catalog so citations have something sturdier than a filename.
If you are writing about a track, linking the official player plus the ISRC (when you have it) is the respectful way. Ripping, retitling, and uploading to a random host is the other way. Do the first.
Failure modes I already know
Players cache. Browsers autoplay-block. Mobile data is rude. If a track stalls, it is often the network, not a secret premium tier. There is no secret premium tier. Reload, try the other player, or pick a different track. I would rather you heard six pieces than wrestled one file for twenty minutes.
Search on the player is literal. Type a word from a title. If you do not remember a title, shuffle is how a large catalog admits it will not fit in a hero banner of three singles.
Albums exist when a sequence earns it. The rest is a long tail on purpose. A long tail is not clutter if the files are identified and licensed. Clutter is an unnamed dump.
